Sergio’s Pictures – Carambeí Historical Park.

Our Brazilian photo correspondent, Sérgio Devens Florentino, has once again amazed me with a stunning collection of pictures from another of his adventures.

This time, he visited the charming little town of Carambeí.

The city is situated in Paraná state, in the southern part of Brazil. It was established on April 4, 1911, by a group of Dutch immigrants.

The city’s pride and joy is the Parque Histórico de Carambeí, the country’s largest open-air museum.

The museum’s purpose is to preserve the rich Dutch cultural heritage. Inside the park, visitors can walk through a typical Dutch village from the beginning of the 20th century.

This is the replica of the 1910s Carambeí train station.

The majority of the Dutch immigrants who arrived in Brazil were Protestants, which helped to disseminate this faith throughout the country.

This elusive residence of the park doesn’t like to be photographed.

The tractor Museum 🚜

One of the most interesting attractions of the Carambeí Historical Park is the tractor museum.

The Dutch, similar to most European immigrants who arrived in Brazil, were farmers.

In the land they received from the government (often for free), the soil was rich and fertile, allowing them to succeed in farming and the dairy industry.

The farmers have immense respect, pride, and love for the machinery that supports them in their daily routines.

Naturally, when it’s time to send a tractor into retirement, it rarely goes to the junk yard.

The museum provided local farmers with the perfect place to showcase their beloved vintage farm equipment.

Some tractors were restored, while others still bear the scars of their service.

Farmall tractors were built by International-Harvester of USA.

Ford tractors were quite popular at the time.

Some of the brands I have never seen before. Like this, Allis-Chalmers.

Hanomag (Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG) is another agricultural machinery brand that was totally new to me.

It is a renowned German manufacturer founded in 1835, becoming a major producer of durable diesel tractors from the 1920s to the 1970s. Known for pioneering diesel technology in farming.

Thanks to these pictures, I have learned a bit about the Dutch immigration and farming tractors.

I hope you enjoyed it as well.
