Picture of The Day – Downtown Toronto.

A few months ago, I started a series of posts called Catch of the Day, where I shared interesting (at least to me) pictures of cars I found on the streets.

But I also love collecting pictures of interesting machines I find on the corners of the internet. Although they have less merit to me since I am not the one who took them, they have, in one way or another, some significance.

Bay Street in the late 1920s, showing the City Hall.

My wife and I have been living like Gipsies for most of our lives, either by choice or necessity. We lived in half a dozen cities in three different countries. All of those cities left a permanent mark on us, and obviously, we have our faves. We both agree that Toronto is one of them.

To be honest, we lived in Markham, ON, which is about 40 minutes driving from Toronto (if the traffic is good). As much as possible, we would travel to the downtown area, park the car, and go for long walks to admire the classic and modern buildings, the beautiful harbourfront, and the city we call “first world Canada.”

Mr. Brian, a fellow blogger, suggested that I include recent pictures of Bay Street that I might have taken. It was a fantastic idea. He is a great photographer, don’t forget to check his blog: https://blhphotoblog.wordpress.com

These two pictures of Bay Street were taken in October 2022, when Estela and I traveled from Markham to Toronto by train.

Late night at the gas station. ⛽️

Unfortunately, I don’t know who took these beautiful black-and-white pictures, but I believe they were taken in the late 1920s. They are stunning, showcasing the photographer’s artistic talent and, clearly, his or her love for the city.

And, of course, in both pictures, the “classic machines” are a very important element.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures as much as I have, and I’ll see you next time.
